Usu Zenkoji Natural Park Walk

Historical background and colourful flowers entertain visitors

Usu Zenkoji Temple is one of Hokkaido’s three oldest temples, built under the Edo Shogunate in 1804. A natural park today, the site is dotted with large lava rocks resulting from the collapse of Mt. Usu. Cherry and hydrangea flowers are in full bloom in spring and summer, respectively, while green leaves turn red and yellow in autumn.
