Ride on the ropeway and enjoy the view of the volcano
The Southern Rim Trail closed during winter (from November through April)
Start from the Lake Toyaside and head toward the 1977 Volcano Remains Park. See the Mt. Showa-Shinzan from the foot of Mt. Usu, then head to the summit on the Usuzan Ropeway, where you can look out at the fantastic view. From there, you can see the powerful volcanic smoke and volcanic mouth from up close as you walk the Southern Rim Trail.
